Bok Towers, a hidden jewel
Bok Towers is located in Lake Wells, Florida on the Bok Sanctuary about an hour and a half drive from our house. While most of Florida is flat, Lake Wells is located in a nice little area of hills and orange groves, and upon the higest spot in Florida,Iron Mountain stands Bok Tower.
The santuary includes the Bok Tower, a large botanical garden, the estate, and some trails. The tower is the centerpiece of the area and stands 205 feet tall. It houses a 60 bell carillon that plays music durning the day. The tower is surounded by a moat that flows into a pond with Koi.
All around the tower is a large botanical garden and we walked for over an hour exploring, however we both agreed we would wait till fall to really enjoy it. There are large open areas that will be just right for picnics. All types of trees, palms, and areas of flowers are everywhere. Little paths run all over, and quite a few times we got turned around.
There is also rather large estate. It is of Medeterrain style and has its own gardens and areas surrounding it. You can tour the house, but we decided not to on this trip.
We really look forward to spending more time here really soon.
