First Week as a New Dad
Well, I have never imagined what this would be like. Actually, I figured it would be not such a big deal in some ways. Look, my new baby, go back to work, yadda-yadda. Quickly I have realized, that is not the case. As I stood there next to Mary after 14 hours of watching her struggling thru the pains of labor and the fears of going thru child birth, I watched my son Logan come into this world. First his head, then his shoulders, and then they told me to come over and meet my son. There is no way to describe what that was like in mere words.
I almost ran over to the heater lamp where they were cleaning up Logan, checking to make sure all was well. I, the camera geek, had to be told to take some pictures of him. As they brought him over to Mary for the first time, I watched her eyes instantly tear up in happiness as mine did the same. I remember calling my mom to tell her that she had a grandson named Logan, and being so choked up to say those words, she kept telling me "what, I can't hear you, what did you say?"
We spent a total of three days in the Hospital, one for labor and two extra to make sure mom and baby were in tip top shape. I got into the routine of chasing after Logan as they took him to the nursery, and running down to the cafeteria to grab breakfast or dinner. Getting woken up every hour as they came into check on Mary, was wearing me out though. I will say with the exception of the Navy, I have never been that tired.
Our transformation here at home has gone fairly smooth. Bear has acted weird, but Sumva is doing fine smelling Logan and the occasional lick to the head. Mary has let me sleep thru the night on a few occasions, and I have tried to return the favor during the day.
The only bad part is, I have to go to work tomorrow, and I will not know what to do without my little buddy napping on me during the afternoons.

Touching pictures and blog
John,
NOTHING can prepare you for the feelings you experience when you see your child for the first time! Words don't even begin to describe it. Your blog was quite touching and seemed to sum up how it must feel to be a new dad. I am so happy for you and Mary! She and Logan will do fine tomorrow. I hear your mom is coming next week so that will be good help for you guys.
Love the pictures that you update daily...I find myself checking 1-2x per day to see if you've posted new pics. Spoke with Mary today and sounds like you guys are doing very well. Having a new baby is quite an adjustment and you guys seem to be going with the flow.
Take care and kiss/hug that little boy for me. Hope we can visit soon.
Love Mary & Clint
